Korea′s most extensive anti-corruption bill has entered the final process for becoming a law… after passing the assembly last week.
But it is facing some strong opposition that could see it ultimately sent back to the drawing board.
The bill will be reviewed at a Cabinet meeting, scheduled for next Tuesday,… and if it is passed the president can either sign or veto it.
If not vetoed, the bill be made into law by as early as the 20th…. and the law will go into effect after an 18-month grace period.
However, the bill has already faced calls for revision from legal experts, the financial sector and teachers… who say it is excessive in its scope.
The Korean Bar Association has filed a constitutional complaint against the bill, saying it violates the right to equality and the freedom of the PRESS.
