BAGHDAD

Iraq officially revalued its currency today, introducing a new international exchange rate.

The rate changed for the first time since the invasion of 2003. Now with the lower denomination notes delivered across the country, banks have introduced a new and international exchange rate for the Iraqi dinar. Thousands of people lined up to exchange their old Iraqi dinars for freshly printed new ones.

All the higher denomination dinars can be exchanged for new lower denomination ones on a one-to-one rate. The new official exchange rate is 1.16 American dollars for one Iraqi dinar.

The country still faces the threat of the Islamic State. But with the new economical reform, the people of the country are more united than ever.

For citizens exchanging money today, there was little they could do in Iraq. Many of those in line said they planned to use their money for vacations or for shopping trips in the UAE.

“I need to get away from Islamic State and their terrorism,” said Al-Bishr Farhan, an engineer in his late 30’s who said he was withdrawing 2,500 new dinars to take a vacation in the Bahrain.

Imad Hassan al-Jabir, a 40-year-old retired soldier felt relieved as he said, “I feel secure knowing that I have enough cash.”

THAT IS FROM CBI. DIDN’T IT SAY THEY HAD TO APPLY EXCHANGE RATES ETC BEFORE? THEY CHANGED WHAT IT SAID … I REALLY DON’T KNOW THE EXACT DATE IT CHANGED BUT FOR MANY MANY YEARS IT DID NOT SAY THAT.

IT APPEARS TO ME THEY HAVE THEIR ACTUAL INDEPENDENT RULES NOW.

[So now it is assumed the rate will be applied…and now it says keep it stable etc?]

Aggiedad77:   Good First of November Family…..remember the word EXPECTATION…..we have great EXPECTATIONS for November, we expect to see great movement from within Iraq during this month…..

We’ve already seen a commitment from Parliament to hang around for 30 days and delay their vacation….why…..to pass the budget….the budget they have been asked by PM Abadi and COM to not change….read it once…twice…then vote upon it….

Abadi spoke at the opening ceremony for the 42nd Baghdad International Fair…..a fair attended by many both from within Iraq and many from outside…..he spoke of a Baghdad free of terrorism….the cradle of civilization….what a great choice of words…..the Baghdad that is to return to world renown as they continue to deal with the terrorist thugs who invaded their country….they take back kilometer after kilometer of land from them….

They stand united as a country to defeat this enemy…..politically they find unity in what needs to be accomplished with their reforms….they reconstruct and at the same time the eliminate red tape that formerly stood in the way….how….by making amendments to existing laws that wipe away the red tape and bring great shame to corruption….

Even with low oil prices they continue to seek ways to finance their country through greater emphasis on activities within the public and private sector both that take away so much focus on oil.
