We are pouring concrete in an Insulated Concrete Form (ICF). These retaining walls are 12 inches thick, 15 feet tall and we poured about 140 yards of concrete, no blowouts, no bulges, walls were straight, level and plumb, perfect alignment. Tali was able to interview Steven and Dan from GreenBlock. GreenBlock is a manufacturer of insulated concrete forms. The business started in the 1960’s, and came to America in the 80’s. The concrete forms can be pieced together, and interlaced with Rebar. The forms are then filled in with concrete. Because of the concrete, as well as the polystyrene, the forms are very insulated, and have a very high R-value. The product itself is very energy efficient, and qualifies for LEED points. the Product is composed of 40-50% recycled material. The foam itself is 100% recyclable.
