Renaissance artist and craftsman Michael Ostaski gives a tour of the house truck he built in the 60’s. To build his Land Yacht Michael started with a stripped down truck cab with a simple bare chassis behind and built EVERYTHING you see with his own hands (by himself). This includes: welding the foundational framework to the truck, complete skeletal system, extensive woodworking details, skylights, siding, roofing, electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, stained glass windows, upholstery, tile work, airbrush, etc (not to mention the design itself).

Man Converts Shipping Container into Tiny Home on Wheels

I’ve recently completed (and sold) a 20′ shipping container conversion.

I did it all almost on my own with the exception of electric and plumbing, working out of a storage unit and wanted to share it with you.

It’s just under 160 sq. ft. and has a full kitchen, bathroom with toilet and shower, flat screen TV, and more.

This shipping container conversion tiny house has been sold (was listed for $28,500) and I just spoke with Graham on the phone and he is now working on his second project! I’ll let you all know when that’s finished. Thanks Graham for inspiring us all! We’re looking forward to your next micro house project. Beautiful work!

John, 75, is no stranger to building tiny homes, house trucks, expedition vehicles and DIY campers. In fact, he has designed and built twelve mobile alternative dwellings in the last 35 years!

Originally from Minnesota, John retired from the construction industry at 45 years old. With his wife and two kids, he decided to pursue a nomadic lifestyle. The family has traveled all over the world in John’s homemade RVs, homeschooling and adventuring. Instead of collecting belongings, John’s family has collected memories, experiences and photographs.

John’s House Truck is built on a Mitsubishi Fuso chassis and took only four weeks to construct. With two water tanks, an outdoor shower, solar panels, propane appliances and ample storage, John and his wife are able to travel to remote locations all over the world. Their most recent adventure lead them through some rugged terrain in South America and the next big trip will take the House Truck to Russia.
