Mini-Documentary Reveals Whole Foods as the Deceptive, Monsanto of Food Retailers

Mike Adams, The Health Ranger, created an excellent 18-minute documentary delving into why Whole Foods is worthy of our BUY-COTT. Apparently they are surreptitiously skipping down the road to riches, hand-in-hand with Monsanto. Whole Foods doesn’t tell half-truths, but whole lies.

Mike tells us Whole Foods claims to sell only healthy, natural food, but that is simply not true, as his lab has proven, and they charge premium prices for the same quality food we can get elsewhere for much less.

We have ample proof that many retailers and corporations outright lie about their products and their safety, efficacy and purity. They are usually profitable enough to buy major media campaigns, so stay away from major retailers and shop with smaller outfits. That’s usually safer, but not necessarily.

We need to be vigilant about not only reading labels, but shopping with honourable, honest retailers. Local is usually better.

Not everyone has the luxury of shopping for fresh produce locally year-round, so all we can do is our best.

There is little black and white in our world. A store that sells “healthy” food, organic food, and tries to obtain the safest food is probably still going to carry products containing GMOs, and possibly contaminated with pesticides, herbicides, as well as dairy products, meat from animals fed GMO food, etc. Farmed fish may be genetically modified and/or fed GMO food.

“All-natural” drinks may still contain ingredients that aren’t safe to consume, such as cane sugar—which may be genetically modified—but we don’t know because retailers don’t have to label GMOs.

Oils may be considered “all natural”, but if they’re canola, soy, or cottonseed most likely are the GMO version. I think most of us know by now that if we only purchased non-GMO, organic and natural food that there wouldn’t be much on the store shelves. It’s getting to the point we need a Ph.D. to shop for safe food. We need to know who to trust.

Trader Joe’s, for example, has a lot of terrific products, organic products, and non-GMO products—but I read labels and I know they also sell products I won’t buy. They don’t make any false claims about selling only organic produce or non-GMOs, and their prices are usually either fair to excellent on most items so they have a lot of happy, loyal customers and they’re nearly always busy.

We don’t have to guess where to shop, however. There is a downloadable free app available to assist us in knowing which retailers to “buy-cott”.
