You have to let go of the old. Really really let it all go. Like me, you very well may have made the choice early on in your life as a child that you were not good enough. That there were things you were lacking that others seemed to possess. An image you compared yourself to with all your insecurities and allowed yourself to feed those perceived holes in yourself with distrust and self abandonment.
We were not good enough, and if we were to survive we had to abandon ourselves and become something else entirely. Become something weaker to allow society to mold us to its way of life so we were not left behind. We abandoned the child within that knew the truth instinctually and betrayed that child to seek a moment’s comfort and shelter from the onslaught of mockery and ridicule.
Our hearts grew so weary of the exhausting push to conform during childhood we gave in to the schemes of those who were already lost. We trusted we were wrong and surrendered our childlike youth for a pre-painted canvas that did not allow room for it. In truth we asked for this from the pits of our souls.
To lose ourselves in the insanity of this world in efforts to understand it more and why our youth and innocence was such a threat to it. Sacrificing the knowing of the heart for the persecuting unforgiving mind that held its grip over what we loved. The joy and love of heaven was not meant to be pushed into a box. It was not created to be contained. And our souls weep every moment they are not free.
The consistent plucking of our spirit’s wings is enough to break anyone filling them with despair and panic. To gaze at yourself in the mirror and watch the light slip away day after day as you give more into what will only be accepted in this life, demanding your soul retreat further in to save yourself from the madness and constant reminder there was always supposed to be so much more. To fall to our knees and beg the referee for the bell for we felt we could not keep going. We lost hope in our dreams and bowed to the line of enslavement our brothers and sisters obeyed without question. Killing our zest for life. Catering to whatever lessened the pain and turning our eyes from the treason we unleashed upon ourselves.
There will be no more dark days. There will be no more tears wept to soothe our imploding hearts as we lay our heads to rest every night. There will be no more screaming to the skies for answers in defeat. God has come. She has heard the cries of her children and felt our agony. A chorus of pain lost in the darkness unable to get out.
Oh how the days went on in confusion and blame to God above as my heart broke again and again at what I could not understand. What I knew and felt was not right but was ensnared in. I raged at the clouds so free above me with resentment at their aloofness to my imprisonment. Mother came to destroy my walls. Melting them with sweet love and a voice I could not turn from. She reached through my defenses and called my soul into court. With eyes so penetrating I could not hide in my childish rebellion. She spoke of a fairytale my heart could dimly recount, building wishes within me once more that maybe there is a chance at my freedom.
I asked for deliverance but tried to refuse it even in the face of the giver. Denying the gift that never would betray me. But with motherly patience she encouraged me to walk further. To dare to trust once more in the magic inside and surrender to it. To let go of my judgements on reality and what I had already given sentence to with my own mind. To accept that I was worthy of love and to take the outstretched hand of grace that never moved an inch from me all this time. To kneel before the greatest love in all of creation, and allow it to blanket my childish fears in her warmth.
