It’s great to see the Sound of Freedom doing so well at the box office. It just passed the 100 million dollar mark. It’s amazing to see it in the mix with Hollywood’s biggest movies. President Trump held a screening for it yesterday. It’s almost like it was brought to you by the 17th letter of the alphabet, wreathed in the requisite conspiracy, of course.

Recently, I did some acting with Andy Dispensa from the TV series The Chosen, produced by Angel Studios, the same company responsible for the release of Sound of Freedom. The acting work was a proof of concept for Death of a Brewer, set in 1884, which premieres August 9 at Big Grove in Iowa City at 5:30pm.

Though there’s a strike in Hollywood right now, indie films can get a waiver for their productions if they agree to the SAG/AFTRA terms. The Chosen was one of the rare TV series granted this waiver.

Perhaps, we are in a window where the underdog can shine, against all odds. Every indie filmmaker knows that competing against giant Hollywood productions is a David and Goliath proposition. Yet, there are more stories to tell than just superhero movies and more films to make than only ones with all-star casts.

Sometimes the real superheroes are ordinary people like Tim Ballard in extraordinary circumstances.

“God must love ordinary people because he made so many of us. Yet, every single day, in every walk of life, ordinary people accomplish extraordinary things!” – Bob Richards/Jim Valvano

Going up against Hollywood when you are an indie filmmaker has been a strange journey since the arrival of Trump. I have supported him very vocally since I realized what his mission was in 2016. I may have lost work, but it has all been a badge of honor standing with Trump and the Patriots and Anons worldwide.

Below is a small film called Western Religion, an allegorical western about a group of disparate characters who find themselves in a wild west poker tournament with the Devil, playing for their souls, though they think the game is for a gold cross. The film was trashed by the mainstream media in its theatrical release, though it was only a very small indie film with a budget of $250K. However, it received a positive review in its DVD release.
