Not wanting to end the text on this note, as a final major chord, here is a small but very vivid episode in the life of a man, born on June 21, 1930, when harmonious Mercury and Jupiter’s impact was strongest. His name is Enzo Maiorca, the famous Italian free diver who held several world records, unfortunately, passed away eight years ago.
One day he was diving in the sea near Syracuse, and his daughter Rossana was backing him up from the boat. During one of the dives, he felt something lightly touch his back. Turning around, he saw a dolphin and realized that it didn’t want to play, but was trying to say something.
The animal dived and Enzo followed it. At a depth of about 12 feet, he found another dolphin trapped in an abandoned fishing net. Maiorca quickly surfaced, asked his daughter for a diving knife and plunged back into the water with Rossana. In a few minutes, they could free the dolphin, which, with the last of its strength, let out an “almost human scream,” as Enzo reminisced afterward. It can withstand under water for no more than 10 minutes, then, it dies.
Gently and carefully supporting half-alive trunk, Enzo, Rossana and another dolphin brought it to the surface. There, the divers saw that “drowned” is a female dolphin, which gave birth to calf a few moments later. The male dolphin made a circle, swam up to Enzo, touched the nose to his cheek like a kiss of gratitude, and sailed away with its family. After this event, Maiorca said, “Until we learn to respect Nature and all living things, we will never know and understand our true role on Earth.”
