BREAKING: Catherine Herridge let go from CBS — Catherine Herridge, an award-winning senior correspondent whose First Amendment case is being closely watched by journalists nationwide — was among the hundreds of employees at CBS parent Paramount who got pink slips on Tuesday, sources told The Post.
Several CBS News reporters were caught up in layoffs at Paramount Global that claimed 800 jobs, including one who is embroiled in a high-stakes First Amendment fight — and another who has reportedly weathered HR probes over his workplace behavior, The Post has learned.

Speaking of financial, twice in two days this weekend when I paid for my groceries with cash at the self-checkout, despite putting in exact change or close to it, rather than getting a lot of one dollar bills I got tons of quarters and my loose coins back. I’ve never seen that happen. It seemed the machines were out of small bills but had lots of silver. Anyone else experience this?

Yet years down the line, those who we would expect to know better have shown they don’t, and are once again simply following orders and ‘questioning nothing.

Things are definitely progressing rapidly on the financial side of things. When getting my cash out to pay for groceries, it seems my wallet was too close to the card reader and while I dug out my bills and change, the cashier assumed I was going to pay with a card and the the friggin’ machine put the purchase on my debit card which was inside my wallet. I’ve never heard of such a thing. They had no recourse but to credit my bank card, and ring everything I bought through the register all over again so I could pay cash.
I don’t know about you, but the fact that someone could hold a POS device close to my wallet and charge my card without me even knowing is not okay with me. Hopefully the Quantum system will make that impossible. Sometimes even sliding a card through a POS machine won’t be accepted, yet the machine can take a card from inside your wallet and process the sale? Something is definitely wrong with the current system.
