Here in Sullivan County NY, we are suffering constantly with our State politicians eroding our constitutional rights and local laws to satisfy only one specific group. All based on the religion of that group.

The proposed legislation that would once again “carve away” at the local municipality’s State Constitution’s authorized Home Rule powers.
The Supervisors unanimously approved sending a letter stating our opposition to each of our State legislators, the committee Chairs where the bill is right now and Governor Hochul herself!

The County Legislature have told us that they also oppose this preposterous attempt to allow multiple housing “units”, as many as 30 per acre, and will draft and send a similar letter. EVERY resident and business owner in Sullivan County should be opposed to it as well.

Maybe if there is public opposition similar to when the State was contemplating whether or not to allow hydraulic fracturing in NYS, maybe we have a chance to prevent this from EVER happening. 

This will hurt particularly farming and water levels which will be eroded and the full time residential home will be hurt. It will cause woodlands to disappear and the wild life to have no security. It will take away arable land for farming of crops and hay.

This law will disregard local zoning laws as well. These laws are in place to protect the farmers and rural areas.

Also, the density of the housing will bring other troubles like sewage issues.

Specifically, area zoned agriculture will now be subject unsustainable high density housing.

Once the land is gone, it’s gone forever!
